Uncertainty over future of Bristol college as building goes on market

The BIMM Music Institute campus on King Square in Stokes Croft has been put up for rent, with the listing saying it is available as a whole or floor-by-floor basis.
The listing adds that the educational building would suit other employment uses such as offices, medical or leisure.

Hide AdBIMM, which has used the site since 2008, has a second Bristol campus on Moon Street in Stokes Croft - St James’ House, which opened in 2022.
A BIMM spokesperson told BristolWorld: “We regularly review our estate to ensure the best experience for our students.
“We are exploring options as we grow and enhance our student environment. Putting the site on the market is part of this strategy.
“Our priority remains to provide an excellent educational experience.”

Hide AdThe King Street campus is no longer listed on the BIMM website.
The 6,000 sq ft building includes recording studios, rehearsal rooms and ancillary offices spread across three floors.
The rental listing by Burston Cook says: “We understand the property benefits from an existing educational use, however the property would suit various other commercial or employment uses including offices, medical, leisure etc.”

BIMM was founded in 1983 and now has seven colleges across the UK, Ireland and Germany, with Bristol alumni including singer George Ezra and members of rock band IDLES.
Last year, students protested outside the Bristol college to show support for their teachers who were at risk of redundancy due to a restructuring plan.
