Parents want their children to go to the best primary schools and these 23 have impressed Ofsted during inspections.
The deadline is looming for parents to apply for their child’s place at primary schools in Bristol and South Gloucestershire. The councils have asked that applications be submitted no later than January 15, 2023.
With this in mind, we’ve put together a list of the highest rated schools in the Bristol area, according to Ofsted. Below are the 23 Bristol primary schools currently rated as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted to help you make the most best choice.
However, some have not been visited by the education watchdog in as many as 10 years.
1. Ashton Gate Primary School
Ashton Gate Primary School, in Ashton Gate Road, was rated outstanding in 2012. The report said: “Teachers are very imaginative in the ways they engage their pupils, giving plenty of opportunity for these articulate pupils to develop and express their opinions.” (https://reports.ofsted.gov.uk/provider/21/108912)
2. Beacon Rise Primary School, Kingswood
Beacon Rise Primary School, in Hanham Road, was rated outstanding by Ofsted in 2012. The report said: “The impact of the high quality teaching is seen in pupils’ outstanding achievement across much of the curriculum and their excellent spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. 3. Bishop Road Primary School, Bishopston
Bishop Road Primary School was rated outstanding in 2011, then in 2020 it received a monitoring report which found leaders had adjusted to conditions during Covid, and had reacted well to some pupils falling behind with basic number skills. (https://reports.ofsted.gov.uk/provider/21/109116)
4. Blaise Primary and Nursery School, Henbury
Blaise Primary and Nursery School, in Clavell Road, was rated outstanding in 2013. The report said: “Pupils say that they love the school. When asked about the best aspect of the school, they spontaneously said, ‘Everyone shines at Blaise.’” (https://reports.ofsted.gov.uk/provider/21/109118)
