Revealed: Bristol's toughest secondary schools to get into in 2024

As children go back to school this week, some Year 7 students will be starting at a new secondary school.

The school they attend may not have been the first choice for their parents, with admission rates as low as 50% in Bristol for the 2024/25 academic year.

Using data from the council’s website, we’ve looked at the allocation of new Year 7 places to see which schools in the city are the hardest to get into. 

We divided the number of places offered by the number of first choice applications for each school, to calculate the percentage success rate.

The list is not comprehensive, as some schools’ data is missing from the council’s website and therefore not included in our list.
