A team of students from Bristol University and Bournemouth University have come together to help raise money for the NSPCC.

The four students – two from each university - have created an online raffle and hope to raise £1,000 for the NSPCC’s Pregnancy In Mind programme.

Pregnancy In Mind is an eight-week wellbeing support programme dedicated to helping expectant parents navigate the emotional and mental challenges of pregnancy.

The university students are aiming to fund 30 New Parent Wellbeing Hampers which can be given to expectant parents who access the Pregnancy In Mind service in the South West.

Studying a variety of courses from marketing to science the students came together through a shared desire to support essential services that impact people’s lives.

Their fundraising project is entirely voluntary and is a student-based initiative provided by the NSPCC. The students chose to support Pregnancy In Mind due to the help that it offers parents-to-be.

Fiona Chung, student at University of Bristol, said: “Becoming a new parent is already an emotional and stressful experience. Combined with everything else that’s happening in the world it’s never been more important to help support parents-to-be.”

Bournemouth University student Hannah Hughes added: “Supporting parents-to-be through this initiative is incredibly meaningful to me. I believe in the strength of community and the importance of providing a helping hand during challenging times. Together we can make a real difference in the lives of new families.”

Emma Hildesley, NSPCC Community Fundraising Manager for Bristol, Bath, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire, said: “It is fantastic that students from two universities in the South West have joined forces to help raise funds for the NSPCC’s Pregnancy In Mind Service. We are really grateful for these students taking the initiative and working to help expectant parents in the region.”

The raffle has a number of fantastic prizes up for grabs including books from Waterstones; gift vouchers for Greggs; delicious chocolate treats from Lindt; and much more.
