Sue Ryder Mascot Gold Cup returns to Cheltenham Racecourse
and on Freeview 262 or Freely 565
The Mascot Gold Cup will take place on Sunday, November 17, from 10.30am to 14.30pm at the historic Cheltenham Racecourse track and will feature a one-furlong race route with six fences for mascots in funny costumes, such as cows, bears, tigers, and pandas, to jump over.
Last year, Ed Surman from Nook at Five, a popular Cheltenham restaurant, won the race dressed as a hot dog!

Hide AdEd’s father received hospice care in his final days, and to show his appreciation for the invaluable work hospices do, Ed decided to fundraise for Sue Ryder. Even with a little tumble at the finish line, Ed managed to emerge victorious - despite the challenges of the race, including an uneven course from a full day of horse racing the day before.
Reflecting on his experience, Ed said: "The level of support from the crowds on the day was great, and we picked up some generous donations."
Ed emphasised the importance of Sue Ryder's work by stating: "Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice isn’t just a charity; it’s an integral part of Cheltenham’s care ecosystem and supports hundreds of families at their most challenging times. It deserves the full support of local businesses and people."
Alysia Cameron-Price, Community Fundraising Manager, at Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice said: “The Sue Ryder Mascot Gold Cup is more than just a fun event; it allows businesses, clubs, and local pubs to represent themselves and compete. Beyond the enjoyment, it’s about supporting a wonderful cause: Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice. As the only inpatient facility in Gloucestershire offering expert palliative care, the hospice supports people living with life-limiting conditions, helping families when they need it the most.”
