For funeral arranger Robyn, empathy and compassion are at the heart of her role – something that she recognises as being fundamental to working in the sector. Robyn has found that during emotionally challenging moments, having a strong and supportive team has been invaluable.
Robyn said: “There are times that feel emotional, but we’re great at supporting each other and finding moments of laughter to lift each other’s spirits. This team’s support is a key reason why I find my role so fulfilling.”
Robyn emphasises the importance of communication when building trust with families. She said: “With our team being so young, we’re meeting a lot of family members for the first time, so it’s important that we build a relationship with them and gain their trust.

The team’s success highlights Co-op Funeralcare’s commitment to breaking down barriers and encouraging young people to enter the sector.
Cameron said: “Funeralcare may feel taboo at times, but this is the time for young people to show that we are more than capable of showing compassion and professionalism. This is the most rewarding role I’ve ever had, and we’re proof that age doesn’t define your ability to care for families.”
For anyone considering a career in funeralcare, Robyn offers her advice: “Don’t be intimidated by the job or the sector’s older stereotype. Everyone starts somewhere, and if you’re passionate about helping others through difficult times, this is the job for you.”
