- Resistance equipment including dual pulley, lat pulldown, chest press, shoulder press and leg press

- Free weights including benches, dumbbells and squat racks
A dedicated functional training area will be introduced into the gym too, to help support the community in reaching their fitness goals.
What’s more, the studio will undergo a complete refresh with all-new equipment, including top-of-the-line Keiser bikes and new sets of weights. Plus, there will be a new sound system in place to keep people motivated during cycling classes.
To create a modern and fresh space for working out, both facilities will also undergo a full redecoration.

The gym will be closed for the duration of the works, while the studio will see closures for some of the time too. However, members will be able to use any other Everyone Active centre at no additional cost during the closures.

Hide AdChristina Gray, Director of Communities and Public Health for Bristol City Council, said: “Gyms and leisure centres remain essential to promoting community health and wellbeing, offering varied opportunities for residents to get active. Henbury Leisure Centre plays a key role in the local area, making it the ideal candidate for refurbishment.
“The upcoming improvements to Henbury Leisure Centre will not only help to boost the physical and mental health of its members thanks to newly installed state-of-the-art facilities, but it will also help to reinvigorate the centre as a vital social space for residents to meet with others in their local community.
“Last year, we confirmed an investment of over £8 million for Bristol’s leisure centres and swimming pools, which together with our operator’s investment as part of a 15-year deal with Everyone Active, is contributing towards significant improvements across our sites. We have already seen refurbishments at St Pauls Community Sports Academy together with major works which have now started at Horfield Leisure Centre.
“We hope that these improvements will encourage even more residents to consider joining their local gym or leisure centre, and that these improvements continue to benefit Bristol’s communities for years to come.”
The popular leisure centre will be hosting a free community open day to celebrate the refurbishment on Saturday June 29. More details to come.
