There may be plenty of fish in the sea - but Somerset's most eligible dog is finding love harder to come upon (and it may be because she lives on a 500-acre estate!).

Poppy, a self-confessed pampered pooch, has joined the masses looking for love online and launched a lonely hearts ad on Instagram, in a bid to find a companion to join her on walks around her Somerset Estate.

Describing herself as a ‘Jack Russell-ish’, with an eye for the finer things in life, Poppy Vincent is in fact a mum-of-four. But she has bid farewell to her own pups and now spends her days taking strolls from her castle to the stately manor house, enjoying the view from her perch in her owner’s Rolls Royce and chasing golf balls around the 18-hole course on her estate.

In addition Poppy - also known as Pops - sometimes even sneaks into an estate wedding - hopping into the helicopter before take off, or sitting on wedding dresses of blushing brides.

The nine-year-old lives at wedding venue, Orchardleigh Estate, where she was born and raised, but has become tired of always watching weddings from the side lines and wants a puppy love of her own.

Her ad calls for a friendly companion, with a GSOH, appetite for long walks in the countryside and naps on sheepskin rugs in front of her many fireplaces.

Poppy’s new companion will also have to contend with her spending a lot of time with Orchardleigh Estate owner, Chris Vincent.

Chris, who has looked after Poppy since she was born, said he thinks it’s time for her to settle down and find a companion. “Poppy is a very affectionate dog, who loves tummy rubs and spends her days following us round the estate,” shared Chris, who also owned Poppy’s grandmother Bumbalina and mother, Baby.

“Just like her grandmother and mother, Poppy is much beloved by everyone. She basically runs the place!”

If successful, Poppy will join almost a third of people who now use online dating sites or apps to find their partner.

But, if Poppy does find a potential partner, how will they fit into her busy life.

“Poppy does have a busy day,” said Chris. “We begin by heading to the castle. She then generally rests and then follows us around as we do our jobs.

“Of course if she had a companion we’d love to welcome them to the estate to visit and I am sure the pair would enjoy some great walks together.”

Poppy’s search for love continues and potential candidates can visit @orchardleigh_estate_weddings and tag Orchardleigh Estate in a story or post showing a picture of their dog to show their interest.

Final suitors will be contacted after the competition closes on October 25th and if the pair fall in love a wedding could be on the cards.

“Hosting weddings is what we love to do at Orchardleigh,” added Chris. “In the past we’ve seen movie stars, TV stars and rock stars visit for weddings and we’ve even hosted horse nuptials. So if Poppy finds a good partner we will be happy to see them tie the knot here at the estate.”

That sounds like a party you’d be barking mad to miss!
