Volunteers from the Rapid Relief Team (RRT) have delivered 40 Baby Care Kits to the Young Parents Team at Bristol City Council.

The RRT Baby Care Kits contain essential support for at least ten days for children and mothers dealing with extremely challenging circumstances. This includes families who have been forced to evacuate their homes due to disasters, families with members in hospital, or parents on low-income. The kits include nappies, nappy bags, cream, wipes, baby grows and wash kits.

The Young Parents Team is a part of the Post-16 Team at Bristol City Council. They engage with young parents across the whole of Bristol from age 15 to 25. They were able to pass on the RRT Baby Care Kits to organisations that support families and mothers across the city.

With the rising cost of living placing adding pressures on young families across the UK, the RRT were delighted to team up with Bristol City Council to support local residents, particularly during this cold winter season.

The Rapid Relief Team is made up from volunteers from the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church and is dedicated to putting compassion into action. The charity offers practical support to charities, emergency services and other organisations supporting those in crisis.

Roland Coldrick, Local RRT Team Leader, said:

“We were delighted to deliver our Baby Care Kits to the Young Parents Team at Bristol City Council. We hope they will provide support to the most vulnerable families in the city.

“In particular, the winter period can be a challenging time for many and the past year has been no exception due to the rise in the cost of living. Our kit provides essentials for mothers and their babies which we hope will make a difference to those struggling during this period.

“As volunteers from the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church, we are committed to supporting our local communities and making a positive difference in the lives of children and families in need across the South West.”

David Horrigan, Manager of the Bristol Post-16 Team, said:

“I wanted to say a massive thank you to the Rapid Relief Team. The Young Parents Team are very grateful for these Baby Care Kits, and they will be provided much-needed relief to young mums and dads across the whole of Bristol.

“The kits are especially timely given the cost-of-living crisis that continues to put pressure on people’s finances. We think they will be invaluable for young parents across Bristol.”
