Patients at a Bristol hospital which supports men with mental health illness and brain injuries joined together with staff and loved ones to enjoy their annual summer fete.

Cygnet Brunel, in Henbury, is a 32-bed service providing neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative rehabilitation for men with mental health difficulties and acquired brain injuries. The Cygnet Health Care-run service recently held their annual summer garden party.

Service users, staff and families enjoyed a tombola, soak the carer, face painting and glitter. There were creative activities like tie dying t-shirts and some competitive games too.

"Particular highlights were the afternoon’s talent contest, which guests enjoyed with a mocktail in hand, and the silent disco.

“The day really lifted everyone’s spirits. We would like to thank everyone who came and supported the fete, events like these mean so much to our service users.

“It encourages them to social interact with others which has a transformative effect on their confidence and morale. We had wonderful feedback from our service users and to have that response is incredible.

“We know how important these events are for our service users, they bring a sense of normality and fun, and provide an opportunity for families and carers to come in and celebrate with us.

“Seeing both service users and staff take part in such a large event, it was such an amazing experience. The entire team went above and beyond to make it such a special event for the people who use services and staff at the hospital.

“It was a breath of fresh air to see everyone enjoying themselves together.”
