Work to build 57 new homes on site of former care home and pub in Lawrence Weston ‘progressing well’

Developers working to build 57 new homes on the site of a former care home, pub and office block on Lawrence Weston say the project is ‘progressing well’.

The Willows residential development at Corbet Close is taking shape after kicking off in March 2021.

Housing association and builder Curo is working with contractor Jehu Group to deliver the 57 affordable homes, which they say will be completed by late autumn this year.

The development comprises three adjacent sites and includes the conversion of Curo’s former office building at Holly House into 13 apartments for social rent.

These will be let to people over 55 and feature assistive technology, such as personal alarms and memory aids.

Another 25 homes for affordable rent and 19 homes for shared ownership are being newly constructed on the site of the former Rockwell Care Home along with the Long Cross pub.

A spokesperson said: “Works are progressing well on the new-builds and some of the homes are already watertight with roofs and windows installed.

“The remaining timber frames will be erected by March and conversion of the office building will also begin next month.”

Curo recently submitted an application to Bristol City Council for a small non-material amendment to its existing planning permission, to change the size and position of windows for some of the new homes, as well as to include other small alterations, such as the addition of canopies to entrances.
