Their report, published by the Food Standards Agency, said ‘major improvements’ were necessary - according to the FSA, a business receives a one-star rating if it scores between 45 and 50 ‘breach’ points.

It is despite the pub being rated four out of five by customers on TripAdvisor - although out of the 77 reviews, 15 ranked the pub as ‘terrible’.

A report into the venue revealed that inspectors found ‘major improvement’ was needed in two of the three assessed areas - hygienic food handling and food management safety.

Hygienic handling of food includes preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage of food while management of food safety refers to a system or checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat.

Cleanliness and condition of facilities and building was found to be ‘generally satisfactory’.

On its website, the Grade II-listed pub says it has been recently stylishly renovated and now has a 55-cover restaurant with outside space.

BristolWorld approached the The White Harte pub on the food hygiene rating - but is yet to receive a response.
