Lakota will be fundraising for St Pauls Carnival after the festival was unable to run this year due to the increasing costs.

The famous St Pauls Carnival is a unique celebration of African Caribbean culture which attracted well over 100,000 people last year.

Since, the full-scale Carnival has since been pushed to be bi-annual due to the costs, with a smaller community-led Back-a-Yard format returning last weekend (June 22) for 2024 instead.

As an affiliated partner of St Pauls Carnival Community Interest Company, Lakota will be running a multi-genre, multi-stage day and night fundraiser event for St Pauls Carnival 2025 on July 6 from 2pm to 3am.

The music gig will feature multiple stages, a fully stocked bar and food stalls, and be headlined by EC2A’s finest Dr Dubplate, Born on Road Superstar Crossy, and reggae legend Vivian Jones.

On their website, Lakota explains: “St Pauls Carnival holds a cherished place in the hearts for so many within the Bristol community and over the decades has been a beacon that brings together a true celebration of arts, music, and vibrant culture.

“Unfortunately due to the increasing costs and complexities of running events like this in today’s climate, the Carnival was not able to make a return this year.
